If you cannot provide a healthy breakfast for your child at home, check into whether your child’s school provides breakfast. Many schools offer either subsidized or free meals.

Breakfast for the Brain

Forty percent of the children in the United States do not eat breakfast. By skipping breakfast, their bodies are being denied the necessary nutrients to produce the energy needed to concentrate and learn.

According to the American Dietetic Association (ADA), research shows that there is a direct correlation between eating in the morning and better performance on test results, recall and verbal skills.

» Provides energy
» Makes them less irritable
» Eliminates hunger which can cause headaches, sleepiness, and/or restlessness
